Mina Dasani

Mina Dasani is an Indian artist based in Mumbai. Trained in Applied Art in a pre-digital era, her painting practice took shape in Dubai, where she lived from 1996 to 2023. Immersed in a multicultural environment and shaped by extensive travel, these years played a formative role in her artistic development.

Her early work was largely representational, engaging with people, nature, and everyday environments. Over time, her practice evolved organically — growing quieter and more contemplative as her own life experiences and inward inquiry deepened. While working primarily in acrylics, Dasani remains open to form, subject, and medium, allowing each painting to emerge intuitively rather than from a fixed stylistic position. Materials such as copper appear selectively in her work, chosen for their elemental presence and resonance rather than technical display.

At the heart of her practice is an interest in attention and perception — how moments of calm, presence, and quiet awareness can exist within the fabric of everyday life. Her paintings do not seek to instruct or narrate; they hold space, inviting viewers to slow down, observe, and reflect.

Her practice remains an open-ended exploration, shaped by lived experience, travel, and an evolving attentiveness to both inner and outer worlds.

The artist invites us to pause and truly see someone we might otherwise pass by.

What does a day in their life look like? What stories do they carry? Where do they come from?

Through these works, she hopes to spark reflection — and foster a deeper sense of inclusivity and compassion.

“My work explores the pursuit of inner calm amidst urban chaos — a search for sukoon in a restless world.

Through abstraction, texture, and form, I translate moments of mindfulness — the quiet between thoughts, the rhythm of breath, the stillness within movement. Each brushstroke is an act of attention; each composition holds the tension between silence and sound, chaos and order.

Recurring themes such as nature, friendship, love, music, and spirituality serve as accessible pathways to peace — small, human moments that reconnect us to empathy, compassion, and quiet joy.

My work invites viewers to pause and find resonance within themselves, offering a moment of shunyata — the fullness of emptiness, the quiet clarity of presence. Painting, for me, is both a spiritual practice and an ongoing act of healing.”
